CAPTCHA or “Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart” is a piece of software that can tell the difference between a human and a bot. It designed to be”easy on humans, hard on bots” which is a quote from Google’s reCAPTCHA. If you’ve used the internet for more than a day chances are that you’ve encountered a CAPTCHA before. CAPTCHAs are those obscured numbers and letters that some websites make you type of you’ve tried to login a number of times or when you want to create an account. A lot of people think that CAPTCHAs are mainly used to battle spam, but you would be surprised how effected they are is in keeping your online accounts from being compromised.
